The Queen Has Died
When most people think the Queen is dead, they trace back to The Smiths album, but in this case, the Queen is actually dead. Throughout the years, society has seen Queen Elizabeth II live for so long that some people were even convinced that she was immortal…clearly this information got proven wrong on September 8th 2022. For the duration of the Queen’s life she accomplished many things. The whole world is mourning for her, remembering all the things she did for the world.
Queen Elizabeth II was born April 21, 1926 in London, England. She was daughter of Prince Albert, Duke of York and Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon and sister of Princess Margaret. Growing up in a royal family she got a very fine education, especially for a young girl during that time in the 1940s-50s. She even knew a variety of different languages, some being English, French, Latin, Italian, Spanish and Greek. During the second World War, Elizabeth was the first woman in the royal family to ever serve in the military, she was an Honorary Junior Commander which is at the same level as an army captain. She spent 5 months training until the war came to an end.
During early 1947, Elizabeth was proposed to by her distant cousin Prince Philip of Greece. Their love was a seven decade love story, according to ABC news Elizabeth states, “He is someone who doesn’t take easily to compliments, but he has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years,” Elizabeth responds towards a tribute of her deceased husband during their anniversary, “And I, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim, or we shall ever know.” Their love story is one of a kind like in the movies. Once Elizabeth became Queen of England in 1952, both their lives changed drastically. Five years into the Queen’s ascension to the throne she made Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, a prince to the people of the United Kingdom.
Later during the years of their marriage, the Queen and Philip had four children together Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward. The people of the United Kingdom were and are still quite fond of the royal family, although current generations in the United Kingdom do not praise the royal family as much as the past generation have. Wilcox Teacher Mr. Jackson says,”The royal family has lost its power over the last few years, people are starting to realize that they are just figure heads and that they actually don’t have actual particular political power or political influence. There have been large periods of economic uncertainty in England. Having this monarchy of Kings and Queens living in a castle while the people are struggling in poverty, it’s caused a perception against the monarch. As well as recent scandals over the last few years. ” Mr. Jackson comes across very valid points, many people are being less influenced by the royal family as time passes. It’s good to hear from a person that is in the more modern generation.
The royals have always been one of the main focuses in the United Kingdom, over the past few months the family has been very quiet and reserved about their lives, specifically the Queen’s health. There wasn’t any clear information about the Queen and her health conditions but according to CNBC, “The queen’s other three children, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, as well as her grandson Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, were also at the palace.” Knowing that her majesty was going to die soon. Sadly her grandson Prince Harry was on his way to Scotland when Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully on her death bed. There is not much information on what the Queen died from but it’s been said that she was under medical supervision before she passed.
People all around the world, specifically all of the United Kingdom, are mourning Queen Elizabeth’s death, remembering her majesty’s long reign. Most of the people in England gathered in front of Buckingham Palace paying their respects to the Queen’s passing. CNBC talked to the Prime Minister Liz Truss about the Queen’s passing, she stated in a speech, “Queen Elizabeth II was the rock on which modern Britain was built… With the passing of the second Elizabeth an age, we usher in a new era in the magnificent history of our great country.” Now her passing is a public holiday that will be celebrated for years to come. The Queen will be truly missed by the world, a new era in the United Kingdom will begin with her eldest son King Charles III.
