A Pair of Scissors Causes Airport Shut Down:
A missing pair of scissors led to 36 flights canceled and 201 delayed at Chitose Airport in Hokkaido, Japan. The incident occurred after a nearby store reported a pair of scissors were on the loose. A lengthy security search was conducted immediately due to concerns over the potential danger imposed. The following day, the scissors were located at the same store where they went missing. As one can imagine, there was backlash from flyers that suffered from these abrupt adjustments. Many flyers turned to social media platforms like X to voice their opinions: one comment read, “Now my reunion with my family I was looking forward to has been shortened. It’s a major disappointment.” Others, however, were grateful that the airport carried out these safety measures. “This incident showcased the safety of Japanese aviation and the thoroughness of its manuals,” one X user posted. Hokkaido Airports has been requested by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism to investigate why this happened and ensure that it does not occur again. The airport stated: “We recognize that this occurred as a result of insufficient storage and management systems at the store… We are aware that this is also an incident that could be linked to hijacking or terrorism, and will once again work to ensure thorough management awareness.”
A Murder Suspect Falls Through the Ceiling, Turning Himself In:
A hiding murder suspect from Memphis, Tennessee coincidentally falls through the ceiling and into the hands of US Marshall officials. 20-year-old Deario Wilkerson was on the loose after shooting and killing a man and leaving another woman injured back in April 2024. Police officials surrounded a home that Wilkerson was in and started conducting a search. The search did not last long as Wilkerson unintentionally turned himself in. “Wilkerson attempted to hide in the attic as the USMS searched the residence; however, he fell through the ceiling,” states The U.S. Marshals Service Release. “Wilkerson was not injured from the fall and was taken into custody with no further incident.” According to the New York Times, Wilkerson was hiding in a family member’s home at the time of the arrest, which took no longer than 10 minutes. Photographs taken at the site revealed a large hole in the drywall where Wilkerson crashed. Wilkerson was also charged by the authorities with reckless endangerment, tampering with evidence, car burglary, gun theft, reckless driving, and other offenses.
Car Crash Injuries from Tripping over Cat:
A man suffers car-crash-like injuries from tripping over his cat. Chris Rowley, a 59-year-old based in the UK, survived injuries similar to those sustained in a car accident. As reported by UK magazine The Mirror, Rowley’s cat grabbed hold of his calf and slid down the steps which left him severely injured. Rowley said, “I can’t remember much, just falling fast — it was quick and it was over within seconds, then I was at the bottom.” At the time of the incident, Rowley was unaccompanied because Jackie, his wife, was out working night shift for child care. As a result, he was left at the scene for 14 hours drenched in a pool of his own blood. Rowley described the sensation as claustrophobic: “You can’t get out, you can’t physically get anywhere or do anything.” Jackie returned from work the following morning and found her husband screaming in pain. She immediately contacted emergency services to safely transport him to the hospital. Although his expected 12-month recovery is lengthy, he expresses his gratitude to be alive. Now, Chris is taking a break from touring as a professional musician and taking on a new job of caring for kids. For those still wondering, “The cat’s absolutely fine.”
