Charizard Shaped Cheeto Sells For Thousands: On March 2, 2025, a Cheeto was sold on the online auctioning platform, Goldin Auctions, for over $87,000. What was so appealing about this specific Cheeto that made it desirable to collectors? The Cheeto was shaped like Charizard, an iconic first generation Pokémon. From the wings to the tail and even the orange color of the Cheeto, everything about it resembled Charizard. Paul Bartlett, owner of 1st & Goal Collectibles, originally bought the Cheeto on eBay in 2019 for $350 from an unknown seller. Bartlett had his friend, Jordan Tkacsik, create a display case for it that resembled the layout of a Pokémon card. After Bartlett shared pictures of the Cheetozard online in April 2024, it exploded in popularity, with the caption stating: “We’ve had the Cheetozard for about 5 years now and we totally forgot we had it until cleaning out the safe.” After taking the Cheetozard to a Collect-A-Thon convention, it was sold for $10,000 and made its way onto Goldin Auctions to eventually be sold for $87,840.
Turtle Caught in Man’s Pants by TSA: A Pennslyvainian man in the Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey was caught with a turtle concealed within his pants by the TSA. On March 7, 2025, the man was going through a security checkpoint when a scanner detected an object in his groin area. When the turtle was removed from the man’s pants, it was covered in a blue towel and placed inside a box for further inspection. The man then added that the turtle was a Red-eared slider, a common species that is kept as a house pet. “Port Authority Police questioned the man, took possession of the turtle and indicated that they would contact the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and local animal control officials,” remarked the TSA. Due to the debacle, the man happened to miss his flight. TSA officials at Newark Liberty International Airport noted that this is the first occurrence of an individual attempting to hide an animal in their pants that they have witnessed.
Mysterious Plate of Monthly Bananas: A bizarre plate filled to the top with peeled bananas has been appearing on a street corner in Nottinghamshire, England. Local residents say that the bananas have been appearing early in the morning for 2 years at most, every month on the second day. Resident Claire Fenwick recounts, “I think it has been happening for at least a year. I see them all the time, it’s difficult to remember exactly when.” Many are puzzled on the motives of the banana bandit. Some think it may be a religious offering while others believe that the bandit is attempting to feed the wildlife. Not everyone is turning a blind eye to the plate of plantains. Clare Short, local environmental volunteer, created a sign stating “Please, respectfully, no more bananas! The uncollected plates and rotting bananas leave such a mess. Wishing a happy new year to you all!” To this day the bananas continue to appear on the street corner.
