February Rants and Raves
Raves:
Valentine’s Day Chocolates: Valentine’s Day is cool and all the lovers are all mushy mushy and having a romantic time. But you do not have to have a significant other to have a great Valentine ’s Day. Well, maybe you do, but for me the single life is the best life and my non-existent cat is my soulmate. As a very dignified single person I love Valentine’s Day because of the chocolates. I mean who does not? On V-day I can get myself a big jumbo heart filled with chocolates that are especially for me from me. And they are on sale! Could the day get any better? Plus, I can celebrate myself and just have a good delicious day, and maybe spend it with some family and friends.
Winter Break: January flew by and mid-winter break finally arrived. Most people probably think oh, we just had one month of school, oh you do not need the break. Accurate quote from my dad. On the other hand, I, and maybe 99% of the school agree that this needed to happen. I do not know why, but first semester seemed so much easier than this one, at least for me. Most people improve after a while, but I do the exact opposite. I deteriorate the second semester. Is not one semester enough? I needed this break a whole lot. It was so nice to just let go and escape from school for a week. Ah, binge-watching TV, eating all day, and sleeping. Definitely, the best few days I have had in a while.
Quantico: Now I do not think many people have watched the show Quantico, but it is amazing! It takes place in a FBI academy, where young FBI recruits are coming to become specialized agents. The training is taking place on the base Quantico in Virginia for a good 21 weeks, where everyone is taught their own survival. You can feel the deep tension between each one of the characters, questioning who they can trust, or who they can consider a friend. The main character is Alex Parrish, and the show takes a turn that may determine her fate, but she is not alone because there are many who believe her to be innocent. This show takes you back into flashbacks and leaves you with many cliffhangers. Many do not like lots of flashbacks, but this show will make you love them.
Wattpad: This is my favorite reading app! There is a wide variety of books to choose from and you can vote, comment and make friends. Some of the books there, in my opinion, are way better than print published books. But beware of the front page, where there are several odd things to watch out for. It just depends on where you look in the website. It is really good app, especially since it is one hundred percent free, and you can read your favorite books from it whenever you want. It is my most used app and I use it to read everywhere. It makes life so much simpler for a bookworm like myself.
Rants:
Toxic Friends: Friends are great to have but it stinks when they do more harm than good. It is really hard to split with friends that you have probably been with forever. Trust me, I know firsthand. But sometimes you need to wake up and see if what they are doing is affecting your health or your happiness in a negative way. Need a clue who your toxic friends are? Well, take a long, hard look, are they stirring up drama and pulling you into it, making you feel insecure, criticizing you for everything you do, or spreading rumors about you? Then you need to let them go. It is terrible to let other people damage your happiness, especially if they are your so-called friends. Oh, and I am not saying to just straight up tell them you do not want to be your friend. It is better to try talking to them first because they might not realize how you feel. If that does not work, be like Elsa and let it go.
Mad Mondays: Mondays are absolutely terrible. There is just so much stress, panic and dread caused by these days. After hitting the snooze button more than twenty times, crawling out of bed, skipping breakfast, and just rushing out the door in your pajamas because you overslept, you stumble into your first period of the day. Every day of my life. But Mondays are even worse because they are the start of the week, and you probably procrastinated and crammed all your homework in Sunday night. Not only that, but sometimes after a long break, you completely forget what you were doing and need something to refresh you. Plus, after most weekends you just do not want to do any work!
Weather Stress: It is terrible when you dress in three layers when you think it is going to be cold, but the weather is the exact opposite. Or when you dress lightly and it is freezing. It is absolutely horrible and has happened to me so much because of the weird California climate. Honestly, one day it is so hot and I am wearing a sweater and a skirt, and then the next day I dress lighter so I will not sweat and it ends up being so cold. It is so frustrating –make up your mind weather! The entire day goes by and I am either trembling of cold or sweating, wondering why weather why?
Brain Farts: The struggle is real up in here. Does it not stink when someone asks you a question and you know you know the answer, but your mind just goes blank? This even happens when it is your field of expertise! Any other time you could be raving about the subject, but the minute you are asked about it your brain has a major fart. It is the same with zoning out. I will accidentally tune people out without meaning to and it is so awkward, especially if they ask you a question and you laugh. Then they look at you weird and you add some more nervous laughter to the conversation. Oh, it is the absolute worst when your slow mind cannot think of anything and that long awkward silence that fills the air.
