After digging through major fashion sources, I can conclude that this spring fashion season focuses on three major categories: color, prints, and fabric. According to Seventeen and Instyle Magazine, this spring’s color wheel displays a variety of pastels and bright bursts of color. Pastels are most popular in the form of jackets and bags, while pops of bold color appear as statement shoes and dress decor. Just like the surrounding flowers, these spring colors will turn heads. These sparks of bright colors and glimmers of pastels are also present in many seasonal spring prints and patterns. “Classic stripes get an update this season in a spectrum of colors,” reports Glamour. Along with stripes, gingham and forms of tie-dye are being spotted on runways all throughout the season. These styles are most popular in the form of tailored pants and dresses. Finally, certain fabrics can make or break an outfit. For example, denim and micro pleating are highlighted this season. Overall, colors, patterns, and fabrics are the main fashion go-tos this spring season.

Now that we have covered the basic trends, by analyzing these three categories you can easily work them into your everyday spring outfits, and transform your winter fashion identity into an equally bold spring one. Starting with color, adding a small pop of brightness to a plain wintery outfit is a good step towards springing into spring trends. Add a pastel jacket or a bright pair of shoes to an outfit to add a spring vibe. Another way to mix in these floral colors is by focusing on accessories. A warm winter sweater can also be sprinkled with a more spring-like aura with the addition of a pastel statement necklace featuring a few bright colors. As I mentioned before, pairing a bright pair of shoes to a seemly plain, simple dress will immediately give you this spring element.

Color is a very easy way to incorporate a more springy look into your style, but if you are looking for a more detailed or complex look focusing on patterns will do just the trick. “Typically a youthful, warm-weather style, gingham has grown up for spring,” announces Glamour’s writers. A glimpse of gingham can increase the maturity of your look. Another print present this season is tie-dye. “The ’70s looks that were abundant in fall left a remnant in the spring-summer presentations: Namely tie-dye print, which was incorporated seamlessly in multiple designers’ collections,” declares an unknown reporter at New York’s Fashion Week. Both of these prints can be used in many different styles and are simple routes to a more spring-inspired outfit.

Once you have picked your favorite spring colors and prints, a fabric can pull the whole outfit together. Denim accenting and micro pleats are hitting the runway, and are dazzling this season with unique looks. A denim jacket or pleated skirt can be a new spring piece in your wardrobe.

Overall, this spring season colors, prints, and fabrics are your stepping stones to a new look. Straight off the runway and into your closet, these three focus points will help you transform your fashion identity. Spring into spring trends this spring season!
