Meet Pixel, By Google

The Pixel is Google’s newest product, a smartphone with a price matching that of Apple and Samsung smartphones. But which one is better? The Pixel boasts the highest rated smartphone camera to date, and a battery that lasts up to 7 hours with constant use, and only require 15 minutes to charge back up. It also claims to have “Unlimited storage” using a cloud service to store photos and videos. The physical storage of the Pixel can hold 32GB, add $100 to the price tag, and you can have 128 GB. The Pixel also has a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone for ease of access, making unlocking the phone fast and painless. And on top of all those things, the Pixel supports the Daydream View, a VR headset and controller created by Google. Sadly this peripheral is not free, coming in at seventy-nine dollars. For all of this, the Pixel can be yours for an easily affordable $649.00! And that’s if you didn’t go for the larger storage option. Obviously this is not a cheap phone, and you’ll be putting in serious investment buying this phone.

The Pixel is also already on sale, set to hit the shelves on the 20th of October, you’ll already be able to buy the Pixel when you read this. For those who don’t have $649 to drop on the phone immediately, there is another way. The phone can be paid for $27.04 a month, for 24 months, or 2 years.

In the beginning of this article I mentioned that the Pixel has very similar prices to other smartphones from other companies. Examples of this are the iPhone 7 also costing $649.00, and the Samsung S7 costing $694.00. With all these choices, is the Pixel really the best one? Among these 3 the Pixel has the best Camera, which depending on what you use your phone for most, can be worth it. The phone can take video in 720p, 1080p, and 4k all at a steady 30 frames per second, one of the most impressive features of the Pixel. The Pixel also has the fastest charge time of the 3 phones. The phone still doesn’t have the biggest battery, but they are very close, and a 15 minute charge time is very appealing.

So the price differences are very small, with the cheapest being a tie between the iPhone 7 and the Pixel, and the more expensive being the S7. Which one is best? After looking at the specs, it really comes down to what you want to do with the phone, and your personal preference. If you’ve used Apple products for a long time, you might want to stick to the iPhone 7. But if you’re looking for something new, and something that can keep going for long periods of time, you might want to invest in the Pixel, because of its features.

Overall, the Pixel will likely be a successful product, unlike some of Google’s other projects. Its capability as a smartphone, impressive camera and quick charge time all come together for a phone that is worth the $649 price tag.
