According to his Wikipedia page, DJ Khaled is known to be an “American record producer, radio personality, DJ and record label executive.” However, he is so much more. With a net worth of about $18 million, his climb to fame has been a quick and unprecedented one, becoming an international sensation that many admire or resent.

He has produced many hits, including “We the Best,” “Hold You Down,” and “Gold Slugs,” but one of the biggest factors to his great success in the media is Snapchat. Through Snapchat, he has kept viewers informed and updated on his many keys to success, some being “having a lot of pillows,” “cocoa butter,” “using the right soap” (which is Dove), and “relaxing.”

DJ Khaled’s most memorable Snapstory is when he was lost at sea on his jetski–he managed to document every bit of it. When he finally made it home after a scary and dark night, he tweeted, “I made it I’m back thank u to all yall [sic] checkin in please never try to drive Jets skies at night and especially if your [sic] lost at sea bless up.”

Students are often heard quoting DJ Khaled’s inspirational speeches. When asked why they love him so much, Neel Manthani, a senior at Wilcox, confessed “everybody idolizes him because he’s an idiot but he’s still super rich.” Khoi Dao added, “my favorite thing about DJ Khaled is his stupidity.

He probably reach that level of fame by being a comedian, he’s so entertaining.” Dao also commented that he hopes to obtain success through DJ Khaled’s advice, “He’s a very motivational speaker, and many people don’t know it.” Khaled’s assertions and remarks fuel the spark in many to accomplish whatever challenge or goal they fixate on.

It was difficult to receive an original opinion on DJ Khaled, as in response to a question, the interviewees would quote a line from DJ Khaled himself. Most responses included, “Another one,” “Bless up,” “You loyal,” “You smart,” and “Say my name.” “DJ Khaled is the embodiment of genuine intelligence and positivity. In the words of DJ Khaled himself, “‘Don’t ever play yourself’,” stated Hazel Gonzales.

In many images and videos of DJ Khaled, he is with stacks of money in both hands and around him. “No one really knows how DJ Khaled is so rich, yet so dumb. What is really his key to success?” Neel Manthani wondered aloud, “I want to believe he’s that dumb, because that’s unbelievable to me.”

Albert Im has a quite different opinion on this legendary figure, “He’s a man without pride. He isn’t an achieved man in terms of actual achievements. I hope he dies soon. Oh, and he’s overhyped.”

Despite Im’s statement, many others look up to DJ Khaled as an inspiration to all who feel like they do not have the brains to achieve greatness and riches. To others, he is a source of entertainment.  His personality and proclamations continue to intrigue many. “He is the Aristotle of our time,” declared Luca Matusmoto.

Congratulations for making it to the end of this article. You’ve played yourself.
